Serenity Calendar of Activities
"Our community provides a relaxed friendly atmosphere of warmth and care that embraces the independent spirit...”
We have 27 rooms all on our main floor with comfortable features – patio doors, wheel chair accessible washrooms and large closet space - all tastefully decorated. We encourage you to bring your own personal treasures and furniture to decorate and arrange your room to your taste.
Our staff is what makes Serenity the warm and loving home that it is. Our manager Tina has been with us for over a decade and is very well known for her kind and gentle personality. Our entire Serenity staff goes above and beyond to meet the needs of everyone.
To offer a home like atmosphere with personal touches in a relaxed friendly atmosphere of warmth and care that embraces the independent spirit.
To provide companionship and socializing in a family like setting for seniors who can care for themselves but who may live alone and are struggling with isolation, lack of stimulation and have a degree of concern for their well-being. We offer a vibrant lifestyle that encourages health and independence through innovative, recreational, educational and wellness programs.
The first Serenity was opened in Hanover, Ontario. The concept and affordability was very well received and it led to a full house within the year. There continues to be a growing need for those who do not need “institutional care”, but feel more comfortable in a “family like” environment. This location opened in 2000, and has a community reputation for its “feel like home setting”. Serenity is also very well recognized for its kind, compassionate and accommodating staff.
We are located in peaceful Parry Sound - the world-renowned jewel of the 30,000 Islands on Georgian Bay. Parry Sound is rich in arts, culture and heritage. The Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts and the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame are home to the international summer music festival, the Festival of the Sound. The Hall of Fame pays tribute to home-town hockey hero, Bobby Orr. The waterfront is a people-gathering place, offering attractions, shopping, restaurants and parks, beaches, natural vistas, and trails for your enjoyment. There is something magical about watching a sunset over the glistening clear waters of the Bay, or walking out onto the winter ice, drilling that hole and catching a fresh lake trout.
We take pride in our traditional home cooked meals that are derived straight from the “good old recipe books” found in kitchens from the days of yore. Hearty, satisfying food for the soul meals are served three times a day, as you choose from our weekly menu. Have a suggestion or a request? No problem – ask one of our cooks to accommodate you and they will. Our cooks assist with serving all meals and listen to your feedback. We also understand that special diet needs may be required and we are more than willing to accommodate you.
At Serenity, we want to make life as easy as possible for you so we are partnered with other senior service providers in the community. This gives us access to community support services should you require a service that Serenity may not offer.
My New Home
A new Home I have found at last,
Better by far than those in the past,
A mansion truly it is not,
One room is really all I’ve got,
Here love and friendship fully abound,
A better place could not found,
When the time has come where you no longer can cope,
Never, never give up hope.
Shirley and I have been living at serenity for just over 3 months, and we love it here. It's one BIG FAMILY and it's so nice that we are here together.
If you are thinking of doing what we have done – just ask us and we will tell you how wonderful it is to be here. There are large room (like ours) with patio sliding doors, or you can choose a smaller room, with patio doors. The Common rooms allow us to have free reign to do what we like. Shirley will be doing her own scrapbooking, while I might be gardening (raised beds) or playing cards. They also have a computer for residents, and wifi is available. No dishes to do (oh darn) and meals are great!! There is a common 60" HD TV in the living room or you can have your own TV in your own room with cable.
We are so happy that we have joined the Serenity family.
As we age, many of us are faced with the prospect of revising our living arrangements. If you feel overwhelmed by home upkeep, cut off from transportation and social amenities, or simply want more companionship with others your age, an independent living facility may be a good option. While moving is always stressful, by planning ahead and giving yourself time and space to cope with change, you can enjoy your independence and thrive in a new home. We’ve compiled a checklist for you, to assist with making your decision.
